Has the change of season left you struggling with what to wear?
I get how that might happen to my lovely mom readers.
If you’re a new mom, this might be your first summer with a baby — meaning you not only have to be comfortable, but also need quick access to your milk supply.
Even the toddler moms might feel a little unsure, especially if you’ve finally lost that baby weight and are trying to figure out what your new style looks like.
That’s exactly why I’ve put together these mom summer outfits.
Hello, friend, and welcome.
I’m Alessia, the writer and founder behind Italy with an Italian.
I know you’re a busy mama, so I am going to keep this post shorter than usual.
The aim is simply to show you what Italian moms wear during the Summer, so you can get inspired and recreate outfits that not feel easy and comfortable, while still looking chic and helping you feel like yourself again.

Stylish Italian Mom Summer Outfits To Copy This Season
- How do you dress when you want to feel and look good but also have to carry or hold another human most of the time?
- What do you wear when you are still breast feeding and need quick access to your chest area?
- How can you carry all you need with you and still look chic, without your bag taking up most of the visual space?
- What do you wear when you are constantly running after a toddler and need to be practical and comfortable?
Are those questions spot on?
While you might already have an answer for them, sometimes all we need is reassurance that we’re doing the right way. And that’s what you should get by looking at these outfits inspired by real Italian mom looks.
Let’s see them and I will also make sure to highlight certain styling hacks you should keep in mind and try.
Make Your Outfit Work For Your Current Body
When I first saw this outfit, it didn’t make it on my share list, because it doesn’t cinch your body the way Italian style usually focuses on.
Then, I realized I was making a mistake. The Italian mom wearing this seemed like a new mom, and it hit me. Of course, new moms would prefer covering their belly and having something feel lose rather than restrictive.
However, if your child is a little older and you’ve started losing your pregnancy weight, you might want to start celebrating that by wearing your tops tucked in. This is why I am sharing this outfit both ways.
Note: This is not to say that you can’t wear your tops tucked in immediately. Just do what feels most comfortable and makes you feel good.

Sets Can Make Your Mom Life Both Easier & Chicer
While I am not surprised that nearly half the moms’ outfits I captured are sets, you might have not thought about this.
Let me quickly explain how this can be life changing (of course, from a style perspective).
- Shopping for a set is much easier, because you just need to focus on ordering and trying sets. It removes the effort of having to pair pieces yourself, which I guess is really important when you have little free time.
- Styling the set is such a breeze. You just have to figure out the shoes, wear your regular accessories, and take your mom bag with you.
- Even washing it is quicker. You just throw those pieces together in the wash, with other similar colors, and they are ready to be worn again.
- If you’re new to my blog, you might have not heard me say this, but I do all the time. Monochrome outfits are the chicest outfits to put together, and can look incredibly elevated even when they are on the casual side, worn with flats, and kept simple. You should benefit from that as a busy mom!
If you’re still not convinced, the next outfits should do exactly that. And the best part is that a set can work for moms with different styles and at different stages of their child’s life.

If you live in a warmer climate, you might not need a blazer for Summer. If so, think about how a set like this might work for you throughout the seasons. You can keep wearing it at the end of Summer and beginning of Fall.
Plus, it can be an amazing and practical mom travel outfit, especially for Europe. Imagine all the outfits you can put together with that extra blazer in your closet or suitcase!
This Is Why Every Mom Needs More Shirts In Her Life!
If there’s one garment that can make your outfit suddenly feel more tailored while still feeling comfortable is a shirt.
It’s also one of the items I mention in my popular Italian Woman Wardrobe Essentials post.
And it happens to be the easiest piece to wear as a breastfeeding mama, because it can be as oversized and comfortable as you want it to, and it’s easy to unbutton.
Let me show you two gorgeous outfit ideas you can put together as a mom with a shirt, and they are both very Italian!

Aren’t they both very sophisticated and put together, but equally effortless and practical?
Can you see how outfit two is the Italian uniform I am always talking about? It’s practically build on this simple Italian outfit formula: midi skirt + shirt tucked in.
This outfit shows you that even women with young children can wear it. You just need to choose the right colors and accessories to feel comfortable in.
For example, if a white shirt is not a great idea with a baby, you can absolutely go with a darker color.
Who Said Moms Can’t Wear Beautiful Dresses?
I get that if you are in the newborn stage and breastfeeding, a dress might feel impossible to get out of when you need to feed your baby outside your home. In that case, you can either reserve wearing a dress for special occasions (that can simply be a day when you really feel like it!), and carry a few bottles with you.
Here are three comfortable dresses outfits you can wear this Summer for comfort and style.

How Not To Lose Your Style As A Mama
I am pretty sure it’s impossible to not lose a bit of your style and yourself too when you become a mom.
You’re so focused on caring and growing this little human that everything else doesn’t really matter.
And whenever you feel like thinking about anything else, it’s likely not your outfits.
That’s completely fine in your early motherhood stages. That’s why it would be ideal to start doing some research and outfits pinning before you give birth. You might even save some pieces you can shop later on.
If you found this post before you gave birth, I hope this helps you prepare better, so you can dress well and feel your best while you are doing the most important job of your life.
Having said all of that, I just wanted to stress the importance of keeping what matters to you even after you become a mom.
Ask yourself this one question.
What’s the one aspect of your style before you got pregnant you loved the most?
Was it how colorful and creative your outfits felt?
Or was it the cool chic vibe you naturally had?
Either way, no one is telling you to lose it.
And you shouldn’t, especially in the first year of your baby’s life.
This is why I think that’s important. You’re already going through so much change. You should at least keep one aspect of your style you like the most, so it can help you hold on who you were before.
Once, you’ve gone through the adjusting phase, you can then think about how you want your style to look like in the next chapter of your life – motherhood.
I thought I could share two outfit ideas that capture this. One is extremely colorful mommy, and the other is very Milan girl chic meets new mom.

PS: If you’re thinking how that body can be real if your baby is still in a pushchair? For some women, losing the baby weight can be extremely easy. It’s just how their body is. Rather than focusing on the flat stomach, focus on the outfit vibe, ok?
