I’ve just finished writing about white T-shirts for women — and honestly, men deserve the same treatment. A white tee is just as much a wardrobe staple for them, if not more so.
So consider this a thank you for all the love you’ve shown my Italian men’s style posts.
I’m sharing 15 outfit ideas around the man white T-shirt, styled the way Milanese men actually wear it. All casual — but the kind of casual you find in Italy, which tends to be a little more considered than what you might be used to. That’s the whole point of inspiration, after all: to help you dress just a little bit better.
The outfits cover a range of styles, from classic to more cool modern looks.

15 Man White Tshirt Outfits From Milan
Where do we start?
It’s should be by sharing a very important note about how Italian men style white shirts.
You won’t see many of them wearing a plain white tshirt on its own.
And when you do, it’s usually the cooler younger men who do it.
I have, however, managed to find three outfit ideas to share with you that don’t involve any layering.
So let’s start by seeing those.

White Tshirt With Tailored Pants

Tell me what do you notice?
I like to ask my readers questions because it helps you better understand the outfit ideas you see, notice the little details that make them unique, and most importantly get clear on which you like and which you don’t, and why is that so.
That’s how you start developing your own clear style, rather than just copying an outfit you like.
Here’s what I see..
Outfit one looks the most classic; it’s a little smart but also feels casual. That’s because it has a balanced mix of tailoring and casual pieces. The trousers are tailored, they have that very Italian crop; and then, there is the pair of white designer sneakers and that very fine nice fitting white tshirt.
This is the perfect example of how important tailoring is if you want to dress better and elevate your style.
You can read more about it here: Tailored Style Explained: The Italian Way To Dress Well
Outfit two is the most modern while also being classic. It’s the combination of the modern casual top with the more classic bottom that give it that modern edge; the black and white, and how clean it feels also help.
I can see this being the perfect outfit a fashion designer would wear, or someone who is attending a fashion show in Milan. It’s also great if your style is all about taking the classics and making them feel more contemporary.
Finally, the third outfit feels the coolest one, but in a retro way. I think is the trousers and shoes, especially those colors paired together. And I guess that car does have an impact too.
Now, that we’ve commented all the three looks, I want to ask you whether you noticed that all three involve tailored pants? Did you?
This should show you that personal style is never black and white; you can combine a more modern style with a more vintage aesthetic. Just try it, see what inspires you, and what looks best.
It’s not women alone who can do this. Finding your own style as a man is as important. It will make you look sharper, but also feel more confident, not only in the way you look but also the way you act.
The Most Casual Way Italian Men Style A White Tshirt
I’ve just told you that most Italian men don’t wear a white tshirt alone; it’s nearly always used as a layering piece. And before I start sharing all the ways they like to do that, I want to show you the most casual one.
This is a very classic casual Italian man look men wear on the weekend, or even for work, depending on what their job looks like.
It’s probably what you would see them wearing if they were to go watch a soccer (football) match, just in different color combinations. However, blue is the most popular.

You might think that’s not casual, but for an Italian man it is, and that’s because each piece feels casual: the white tshirt, the white sneakers, the more relaxed chinos, and the casual gilet.
How To Style A White Tshirt With Jeans The Italian Way
The next way most casual way Italians, Milanese included, style a white tee is by pairing it with jeans. They are both considered very casual pieces, so let’s see how they do it.
This is also likely many people’s favorite way to wear a white tshirt, so think about it.. could you see yourself wearing it one of these two ways, or maybe both?
This brings me to another point I’d like to share: knowing your personal style doesn’t mean confining yourself in a box. If you like fashion, and you like switching your look depending on the occasion and the company, it’s totally perfect, as long as each outfit still makes you feel yourself.

The outfits both feature a white tee, blue jeans, and white sneakers. Yet, they feel completely different. The first is the classic casual Italian way to style a white tee with jeans.
The second is a triple denim look, you likely didn’t think Italian men would wear, but this is actually one I’ve seen men wearing since I was a little kid. However, not all men would feel comfortable wearing it, because it’s very casual. Having said that it’s still feels polished.
Both outfits are, and that’s the key here. If you want to style a white tshirt like an Italian man make sure to follow these rules:
- choose a fine white tshirt, opaque, thick, high quality fabric, with a clean white color;
- make sure your white tshirt fits well; never too tight and not too oversized, even if you’re going for a baggy look.
- the white tshirt must spotlessly clean and immaculately steamed;
- pair it with a more tailored piece; that could be tailored pants, a blazer, or even a pair of well fitting tailored jeans.
- if it goes with your outfit, don’t forget to add a belt and a watch;
- make sure whichever shoes you wear look spotless

How To Layer a White Tshirt Under a Shirt
Let’s continue looking at how Italian men do layering with a white tee.
I found four outfits to show you, each with its own unique vibe:
- outfit one is the classic Italian man look;
- outfit two is a casual baggy outfit;
- outfit three is very casual cool and it features shorts;
- outfit four is cool and baggy, but in a smarter way.

How To Wear Your White Tshirt Under A Jacket, Coat, Or Blazer
This section confirms how having a few carefully selected fine white tshirts in your wardrobe is a must, both if you love wearing them, and if you’re looking for easy ways to elevate the way you dress. It all starts with elevating your basics, and what’s more basic than a white tee? Make sure yours looks great; there’s no point in styling a bad looking tshirt.
A good white tshirt can be styled throughout the year, from Summer to Winter. I haven’t shown you how Italians style it under a sweater or jumper, simply because it’s usually not visible, and when it is, it’s only the collar you can actually see.
For this reason, I’d like to give you a few ideas on how to wear yours under jackets and coats for Spring, Fall and Winter.
This is how the Milanese pair a white tshirt with their outerwear.
We’re starting with the classic suede jacket. The outfit is also kept classic with well fitting trousers, a pair of loafers, and a watch. The color palette is very old money quiet luxury, perfect for Spring and end of Summer.

Next, the white tshirt is being styled under a corduroy jacket, another elevated classic casual piece in an Italian man’s wardrobe. The all white look is very tasteful, and those boat shoes bring the look together by adding a little bit of color while keeping the color palette light and soft, perfect for Spring.

The third outfit is one of my favorites. It’s pairing the white tshirt with a blazer and a pair of tailored pants, but the entire look feels very Spring and smart casual. The more relaxed fit of the pants and the espadrille style slip on shoes dress it down beautifully.

Outfit four is what the cool Milanese man with a motorcycle would wear in fall or early Spring, and it doesn’t have to involve a leather jacket!
Can you see how those pants feel slightly cargo but in a more Italian tailored way?
Also, those cooler style of sneakers make the outfit feel more cool and contemporary.

Outfit five shows you how to layer a white tshirt under a blazer and a trench coat. This is something Italian men, especially the Milanese, do a lot as the weather starts getting colder. It’s a smart casual outfit perfect for Fall but also Spring.

It’s all in the details.
You need to ask yourself this..
am I the guy who likes the classic looks,
or the guy who loves the cooler ones?
If you don’t know, pick one of each you love, and try wearing each for one day.
Which one made you feel the best, and you can’t wait to wear again?
That’s a clear sign you need to lean more into that style.
If you need help distinguishing all the looks, here’s a summary:
Classic casual looks: 4, 5, 6, 7, 11, 12, 15
More modern vibe: 1, 2, 13
Cool and baggy: 3, 8, 9, 10, 14
