You want to look sharp, feel confident, and carry yourself like a man who knows what he’s doing. Whether you’re heading to Italy, upgrading your wardrobe, or just trying to get noticed for the right reasons—Italian style is a smart place to start.

P.S. If on the other hand, you are a woman shopping for your partner, I get it—I do that too.

In this post, I’ll show you 30 Italian outfits for men that are clean, sharp, and masculine—refined without trying too hard. Under each look, you’ll find links to similar pieces so you can recreate the outfit with ease.

How To Dress Like An Italian Man

If you don’t know where to start, here are some important things to know. Follow these when picking your outfit, or shopping for new pieces, and you will know you are doing it right!

  1. Focus on simplicity – Italian outfits that stand the test of time have one thing in common, they are impressive but in a very simple way. It’s usually neither an elaborate fabric, nor an expensive brand logo, that makes them that good. It’s a combination of things we are about to explore next.
  2. Perfect fit – The way your clothes fit you can make or break your outfit, even if it’s a single piece not fitting well. The right length, the right bagginess, the right neckline. These things all matter. But don’t worry about it getting tedious. Once you do it once or twice, you’ll get the hang of it pretty quickly, especially once you see how much of a difference those details make.
  3. Tailoring – You don’t have to wear suits to embrace the power of Italian tailoring.Tailored separates are perfect too! Think tailored trousers, tailored blazers, tailored coats, and even tailored shirts and tshirts. Tailoring is all about great fit, great quality and craftsmanship to make the garment look more elevated and expensive. This goes hand in hand with perfect fit.
  4. Versatility – If you are worrying that this wardrobe upgrade will cost you a fortune, don’t. You will be surprised by how a few key pieces can help you create a plethora of looks that still give the same vibe – Italian gentleman style, but look different and appropriate for various occasions. We can talk more about building an Italian men capsule in a separate post.
  5. Make it your own – Whether you dress like an Italian or French, the most important thing is that you feel great! Feeling confident in what you are wearing is key to elevating not only your style but your daily life. So make sure you are infusing each outfit with a little bit of personality. This could look like adding a particular style of watch, or wearing more black, or a pop of color.
  6. Footwear & Accessories – Remember that with Italian style it’s all about the details, so finishing your outfit with the right accessories is key to achieving that refined Italian vibe you are after. Again, it’s not about the quantity but the quality and versatility of each piece. So two to three leather belts, one or two nice pairs of sunglasses, and the right pairs of shoes. Think leather or suede loafers in black, tan, and brown; Oxford shoes in the same color palette; a pair of leather Winter boots; and classic white trainers.

Italian Outfits For Men To Inspire Your Everyday Style

When curating this selection of outfits I tried to include a little bit of everything – dressed up, a little more casual, warm weather, looks with coats, full on suits, neutral palette, brighter bolder looks; you get it.

Obviously, I am limited by how many outfits I can share in one post, but this selection should be plenty to start inspiring your day to day outfits.

I’d like to emphasize the fact that while the images portray men that look like models, these outfits can be worn by anyone, no matter the body type and age. That’s because they are classic and timeless. Also the layering, especially with blazers and coats, is a great way to help disguise any extra rolls around your stomach.

You’ll notice I haven’t grouped these in sections – casual, blazer looks, outfits with jeans, etc. That’s because I purposefully want you to go through them all and stop when one look catches your attention. Forget the image or style you think you like, as we often get stuck into an image of ourselves that doesn’t serve us anymore. If you like something, snap a picture and try to recreate it with pieces you own, or when shopping in person or online.

What did you think of this first group of outfits?

I know there are a lot of looks featuring blazers but a blazer is an essential piece in an Italian man’s closet.

Throughout this post you’ll see how Italians love styling blazers in different ways – with full on suits, on their own, under a Winter coat, with jeans, and with different palettes that go from light to dark.

Have you noticed there’s a good mix of warmer and brighter tones?

You might think all Italians dress following the old money style palette, and while many do, Italian men don’t just stick to beige, browns, blues, creams, and whites.

They love richer and deeper colors like hunter green, deep maroons, but also brighter shades of red, blue, orange, and yellow.

In the second part, I tried to minimize the outfits with blazers and give you more casual options. You also have a stunning older man outfit, and a very Summery look.

You might think that these looks are not casual at all. So let me ask you a question – how do you define casual? Is it a jeans and tshirt kind of look, perhaps with trainers? Or is it a loungewear set?

Well, those are not very Italian men looks. That’s not to say that no Italians wear those types of outfits, but they are probably not the Italian men that the entire world aspires to when thinking about Italian fashion.

If you like casual because of the comfort element, who said trousers can’t be comfortable? If they are good quality and fit well, they won’t make you feel restricted. The same holds for a button up shirt and a blazer.

Next time you pick your outfit, stray away from thinking that put together equals uncomfortable. Do the same when you shop for new pieces. Or at least try them on, and find ones that feel good and look good too.

I promise—once you see yourself in the mirror and feel how the clothes fit, you’ll change your mind. Especially after the confidence boost and the compliments that come with it.

You’ve now scrolled through all the outfits. Did you find a few favorites?

Do you remember those aspects we spoke about earlier, that is those elements that define Italian men outfits, and Italian fashion in general?

I hope you have managed to see them sprinkled all over these looks.

Simple, perfect fitting, well tailored, versatile outfits that you can tweak to make them yours.

All 30 outfits fit the above criteria. They also focus on finishing the look with great classic accessories – from shoes, to tie, sunglasses, and watches.

Finally, but not least, every outfit looks good because it’s both simple and curated. By curated I mean that the right shades have been paired together, the right fit has been selected, the pieces are all well ironed, the shoes are nicely polished.

Dressing like an Italian man is not just about having the right pieces in your closet, pairing them well together, and wearing them with confidence. It’s also about taking good care of those pieces, whether you or your partner do it at home, or take your laundry to professional cleaners.

Many Italians do take their tailored pieces to be laundered professionally because they care about how they look and they also want to make sure they preserve their wardrobe, especially when they have invested in more expensive pieces.

Need Help Choosing?

Not sure which outfits are right for you? Let me help.

I will give you a few general guidelines to help you pick a few. All you have to do is pick the group 1 to 5 that defines your lifestyle or personality the most, and then focus on those four looks. Or at least start there.

Corporate job: pick between outfits 8, 16, 18, and 19.

Prefer neutral colors: opt for outfits 1, 10, 14, and 27.

Love bright colors: go with outfits 2, 6, 7, 20, and 21.

Love wearing jeans: get inspired by outfits 9, 23, 26, and 2.

Prefer classic looks: how about outfits 5, 14, 16, and 25?

More relaxed job: pick between outfits 2, 12, 27, and 28.

Over 50: All of these outfits work just as well for older men. My only tip: avoid very fitted clothing. Personally, I find that style less elegant at any age. I think many Italians would agree: good style leaves something to the imagination.

Going on a date: for a morning date pick outfit 7 or 22 if it’s warm; for an evening date pick outfits 25 or 14, depending on the season.

Wedding in Italy or anywhere else: 10 and 18 are great wedding looks for Summer or morning events, while 19 is better suited for the Winter.
