Here you’ll find most Christmas Markets in Italy, divided by region. For each, I am listing the dates and locations.
Here’s how to use this list:
- You can choose your Italian Christmas destination based on the number of Christmas events in that region. If you do, I suggest you base yourself in a central location, like the main city or one of the large ones.
- You might want to visit a specific Christmas market, and then tour any other ones nearby. Use this list to spot the one you like, and then see what else the region has to offer.

For those who want a little help, I will highlight my favorite markets in every region and why I think they are worth a visit. I will only pick one or two per region, but that doesn’t mean the other ones aren’t magical and worth visiting.

Trentino Alto Adige Christmas Markets
When it comes to Christmas Markets, this region has the best ones in my opinion. So, while I will only highlight two, any of the larger ones will be as lovely, including Trento, Klause, Vipiteno, Kastelruth, Merano, and Ortisei. But if you have a car, you can pop into a few smaller ones and soak in the small-town holiday vibes.

This market is conveniently located in the main square of one of the capitals of the region, which makes it easily accessible by train and bus.
The backdrop of the mountains in Piazza Walther is spectacular, and you can cozy up in one of the square cafes while admiring the stalls outside.

This region, although small, offers you that charming Alpine Christmas vibe we often look for when visiting Christmas events.

The “Moncalieri Proclamation” (Proclama di Moncalieri) was an important historical document issued on November 20, 1849, by King Victor Emmanuel II of Sardinia-Piedmont. It played a crucial role in the history of the Italian unification movement, known as the Risorgimento.
The proclamation urged the newly elected parliament to approve the Siccardi laws, which aimed to reduce the privileges of the Catholic Church and limit its influence on the state. It emphasized the need for progressive reforms and constitutional government.
