If you love Max Mara style, you know there’s nothing better than a camel coat in Winter. It’s timeless, elegant, and flattering on many skin tones—an outerwear piece that never goes out of style.
Whether you already own the perfect one, or are still searching, in this post we’ll look at Camel Coat Outfits from Milan streets, that are both stunning and easy to re-create.
With these outfits in mind, you’ll have plenty of inspiration to style your camel coat this season. I’ll also answer common questions about how to wear and combine this iconic piece.
Let the inspiration begin.

Long Camel Coat Outfits Spotted In Milan
Do you love the idea of a long camel coat outfit, but don’t know what to wear with it? Here are two looks I spotted in Milan that you might want to recreate. I also urge you to look at the other camel coat outfits below because there will be more long coat outfits that fit in other categories.

Outfit one features a long dark camel coat worn with a long cream knit dress and tall cream boots. The lady completed the look with a small handheld beige bag.
This outfit is simple to put together, yet those heeled cream boots stand out so beautifully underneath the camel coat that they make the outfit. Of course, the right coat also matters. However, this look would equally look gorgeous if you were to wear the iconic Max Mara belted midi A line camel coat.
Outfit two features a pair of jeans and classic Italian styling. The jeans have a tailored fit and they are paired with pointed black leather boots. The woman matched the boots to her sweater, and finished the look with a light camel bag.

You can see this look is really effortless but what makes it stand out is the structured tailored coat style and the extra details it has. The black notch lapel with a camel trim adds that something something to make that simple outfit pop. Of course, this style is not for everyone, but looking for a coat with unique details is key if you want your simple outfits to feel unique.
How Italian Women Wear Short Camel Coats
Petite ladies like me might want to lean towards shorter camel coat outfits, thought not completely necessary. If that’s you, or you just have a shorter coat you’d like to style, here are two stunning and timeless looks.
This first one is super classy, perfect for work during those transition months when you don’t really need a full on coat. It features a camel cape rather than a coat, but the same outfit would work beautifully with a short camel coat.

The woman has styled it with black tailored, slightly wide leg trousers and pointed black heeled pumps. Underneath the camel cape, she is wearing a white chiffon blouse tucked in the trousers. From the front the outfit looks very elegant yet simple, but the party is at the back!
The camel cape has a double sided fabric, one side being a solid camel and the other being the signature Burberry check print. Because it’s oversized, when you flip the sides of the cape backwards over your shoulder you get the checked side on the back. The woman knows her style, and complemented this outfit beautifully with a red leather tote to accentuate those checked red colors.
This outfit could go in this section or in the classy one below. It’s perfect for work, but equally for running errands if you are in your 50s and like to look dress up and sophisticated every day, because why not!

The second short camel coat outfit I want to share with you has the same color palette as the previous one but it’s the accessories and silhouette that give it a completely different vibe.
I have always wanted to have a pair of women’s oxford shoes, and part of me remembers having them, but I think I was only 7 years old, and they were heeled. The lady is pairing them with cropped tailored cigarette pants, exactly like you would do with the classic loafers. On top she is wearing a short peacoat with camel fur cuffs. The bag has a dark ochre tan which matches the shades of her silk neck scarf; the latter is elegantly tucked underneath the coat neckline.
Casual Camel Coat Outfits Italian-Style
If you are someone who likes to wear your camel coat to the airport, or to take the kids to school, catch up with friends, or travel in Winter, you might be looking for a more casual way to style it. This is exactly what we will be looking at in this section.
Let me however remind you that this is Italian style, so casual is not going to be slouchy and will still feature structured or/and tailored pieces. But don’t worry about it, these outfits are both cosy and comfortable.
How to Wear a Puffer Camel Coat
Do you live in a very cold country/state? Or perhaps you are going to a Christmas market holiday in Europe? Either way, this kind of puffer coat is what you need to stay warm while looking stylish.

How to style a puffer camel coat/jacket?
Keep it simple. Black, cream, white, different shades of camel and brown, but also red, blue, burgundy, or dark greens go beautiful with camel, and so does charcoal grey.
Camel Coat with Jeans
I already showed you a very simple camel coat and jeans look, so I’d like you to see something a little bolder.

The dark camel coat contrasts beautifully with the lime yellow blouse. It’s definitely not a pairing I would have thought of, and it’s also certainly not one I would wear. But if yellow suits you, and you like bold colors, go for it. Keeping everything else paired down is the key to making this outfit look tasteful notwithstanding this bold pairing.
Camel Coat with Sneakers
For the ladies that love a casual camel outfit they can wear in the morning to run errands and also keep it on while at home in between school runs and kids activities, here’s that outfit – styled the Italian way.

No surprise it’s a tonal outfit. Italian women don’t like to wear super casual outfits like this out and about, so when they do, they make sure it still looks elevated and stylish. Tonal outfits immediately do that, but the key is making sure every piece is high quality and fits you like a glove.
You can also see how those lounge bottoms that look like a cotton-wool or cashmere blend seem to have a tailored fit. The sunnies, the small black cross body bag, the white sleek sneakers styled under the long trousers, and even the coat arms pulled up make the look feel very curated while being casual and comfortable.
If you love it, this one would make a great airport outfit for Winter.
Classy Camel Coat Outfits Italian Women Love
We have already looked at several camel coat outfits styled by Italian women. However, I have left my favorite looks for last. Let’s see them together.
Chic Black and Camel Coat Outfit For Work
This black and camel coat outfit has all the elements of being a great work outfit. Here’s why:
1. It features a black straight line skirt with black heeled tall suede boots, and a white button up shirt. These are all key pieces in a woman’s work wardrobe.
2. The lighter camel coat shade is my favorite but also the one that looks the most timeless, in my opinion.
3. Matching the leather shoulder tote color to the coat makes this look feel even more elegant by keeping things simple.

Max Mara Coat Outfit Meets Italian Edge
Of all the coats in this post, this one is the one which has the most Max Mara vibes. However, it comes with a modern teddy coat fabric, which is a popular alternative to the more classic fur coats. I am not sure how I feel about those coats. I guess it all depends on the silhouette and quality.

The woman has styled the belted coat with dark moss green cigarette pants which have a nice crop. The second stunning element that elevates this outfit are of course those rich tan oxford shoes which match the leather shoulder bag perfectly. Underneath the coat is a simple black high neck sweater. This outfit couldn’t be more perfect, in my opinion. If you are someone who loves mixing masculine and feminine elements for a more edgy but timeless look, I am sure you’ll appreciate this too.
Smart Casual Camel Coat Outfit
I still don’t have a camel coat in my closet because I haven’t found the right one, but as soon as I do, this is the kind of outfit you’ll see me wearing throughout Winter.

Tailored straight leg jeans, slightly flared at the bottom, paired with a beige sweater and a Burberry style scarf (another thing on my wishlist).
While this outfit could look too basic, maybe even boring (although, not to me!), it’s those accessories that make it stand apart from the rest. The khaki suede heeled boots and the burgundy vintage style shoulder bag with long strap give it a very curated almost thrifted vibes. While I am not into thrifting, I know that many women are and it’s becoming trendier year after year.
Italian Fur Camel Coat Look
This is not one I would wear, simply because that kind of coat would swamp me. However, it’s one I see Italian women wear all the time and they always look great. Keeping it the outfit underneath all black, and finishing with black leather accessories and boots elevates it further while also mixing that sleek edgy look with the classic fur coat vibe. I must say that the real cherry on this outfit are those black leather gloves. Do you agree?
