Summer tops are one of the trickiest clothing pieces to shop for. They need to fit well, pair effortlessly with whatever you’re wearing on the bottom, bring something special to a simple pair of jeans or trousers, and — most importantly — be well made.
Today, I’m sharing the exact process I went through to find 10 Amazon summer tops actually worth buying. If you’re on the hunt for something similar, you might want to keep a tab open — or go ahead and add a few straight to your basket.
I’ve done the vetting for you: based on ratings, reviews, and photos, these are the 10 tops I’d genuinely consider buying myself. (Spoiler: I might do exactly that and film a try-on video.)
I’m also pairing each one with outfit ideas styled in a way that feels very Italian and very summer — think everyday looks, office-ready outfits, and yes, everything you need for that holiday you’ve been dreaming about.

The 10 Amazon Summer Tops I’d Actually Buy
Before I start showing you my 10 amazon summer top picks, I need to explain what I was looking for.
I went through the exact process I follow when I shop for myself on Amazon, and anywhere else.
Firstly, I asked myself what am I looking for?
Summer tops.
Well, what kind of summer tops?
Tops I would wear all Summer long: on vacation, to go to work (especially, if I worked in an office), for the weekend, and casual Summer nights out.
Since, I already have plenty of tops to wear, I thought about which of my Summer tops would I buy again or replace immediately if I no longer had them. And this is the list I came up with:
- a black top
- a white top
- a navy blue top
- a dark brown top
- a blue striped top
- one trendy top (it could be a trending color or style)
- a sleeveless shirt (I am going to count shirts as tops)
- a short sleeve peplum style shirt
And that’s exactly what I looked for.
After vetting at least 50, if not more, these are the ones I feel good recommending to you.
Top 1 and 2 Are Perfect For Vacation
They are linen, sleeveless (perfect for those heatwave days, which we’re already experiencing here in the Mediterranean, and it’s not even June!).
These tops also have the perfect length to be worn both tucked in and over pants and skirts.
They come in at least ten colors, but I picked these two, because I think they are both very chic and very Italian: beige for style one and blue striped for style two.
Here’s how I’d style them:
What I like about them: they are linen, so heatwave approved, and they look effortlessly chic. If you like the fit, you can buy them in so many colors, and create very distinct outfits, as you can see in my two examples.
Top 3 Is My Go To Travel Top
This is the style of top I like to wear on travel days in Summer, so much so that I bought a second one. I initially had the black one, and now, I also bought the beige one. However, I wish I had done my color analysis earlier, and realized that beige is not my color.

I usually style my black one with black pants and a comfortable pair of loafers. However, I loved the idea of pairing it this way:
I think this outfit is wonderful both if you’re on a trip or going to the farmers’ market.

It also comes in all white and embroidered, very pretty.
What I like about this: it’s a button up that looks like a blouse; the peplum style gives it a unique design element that elevates the simples outfits; and it’s really comfortable to wear. I wear mine with a matching tank top.
A Sleeveless Button Up Is Always A Good Idea!
If you love wearing shirts, having one or a few sleeveless ones for Summer it’s a no brainer. It gives you the same look but makes it comfortable enough for those hot days.
This is a piece you can wear over a swimsuit, to work, or to go grab your groceries.
Here, I am showing you how I’d style the green one:
What I like about this: there was a time when I lived in these style of tops all Summer long. I even wore them as part of my uniform, when I worked in a government office. While I haven’t wore them in a white (likely because they reminded me of that uniform I so much hated), this black one is tempting me to start again.
Another thing I’d like to point out is that I find the Amazon essentials brand a really good one. I have bought many pieces from them, and they’re always fairly good quality (I say fairly because our expectations should always be in line with the price we’re paying).
Two Great Summer Tops For The Office
As I just mentioned my office days, let me share the kind of tops I would have loved wearing for my other office job, the one where I got to dress up daily – no uniform involved.
These two tops would have paired beautifully with my favorite black pencil skirt and my metallic pewter sling back heels.
I picked a white polka dot for both because it’s a very trending piece this Summer, but it’s not one of those trends that will ever go away, so you can keep wearing season after season.

Style two comes with sleeves; which I know is very important in an office setting, especially during meetings.
Here’s how I’d style both.
A quick tip: I’d steer away from the colors with the contrast trim for the blouse, as look cheap, in my opinion. There are many solid colors, and nice prints like the polka dots I showed you above. I also think the small polka dots looks nicer than the bigger one.
A Black Summer Top Is A Must Have For Many Italian Women
Even though black is not the best color to wear in Summer, we love it so much that we can’t do without it. And that’s why a sleeveless one is a great alternative.
I wouldn’t suggest you wear a black top when you’re spending all day outside in the sun, even if it’s a sleeveless one, but if you’re going in an out, or spending most time under the ac, it’s perfectly fine.
That’s exactly how I wear my black tops in Summer.
I found this especially cute one on Amazon, but it’s a pretty top that also feels minimalist enough for women like me, who prefer edgy over cute. I’d pick the black one, but I saw women trying the green and red, and they both look lovely.

The Perfect Preppy & Old Money Style Top
I have two similar style tops, one is black and one is white, with a contrast trim. I would usually suggest you steer away from contrast tops, especially on budget sites, but this style is the exception.
I think the trim looks gorgeous here, and this navy blue is tempting me (my only concern is that I am heavy busted and I don’t like wearing strapless bras, so keep that in mind; you need to wear this with the right bra, or none at all).
This top feels very old money, and that’s the style I had in mind when I bought mine. However, the blue and white also feels very preppy. Here’s how I’d style this:
A Brown Summer Top With a Cinched Waist
I am not sure if brown is my color. I refuse to look into. I like to tell myself that I can wear it because of my dark brown hair.

I love the modest neckline, the cap sleeves, but especially that belted waist. It’s the perfect way to add detail while also cinching your waist without needing to add a belt.
If brown is not your favorite color, don’t worry, as there are plenty more to choose from. Just ask yourself if this is a style you like and that would suit your body shape.
We Need Something Yellow
Even though I don’t think yellow suits me at all, I can’s stop from wanting to wear it. So if I can’t wear it, at least I can recommend it to you. Just remember, you can read my guide to help you find out if yellow suits you. And if it doesn’t, just know this comes in many other colors.
Here’s how I imagine styling this yellow cardigan top. It would equally look lovely worn buttoned up, maybe off the shoulder on one side, with a pair of white shorts.
What I love about this: the lovely yellow color, the relaxed fit, the knitted fabric makes it perfect for the end of Summer, or when you’re spending all day under the AC (such as on travel days). It can be worn in so many ways: buttoned, unbuttoned, tucked in, untucked, alone or layered.
